Tell her story…
A few months ago, Barry Ellison came home to find a mysterious, unmarked box on his porch. No return address. No explanation. Just a single handwritten note: “Tell her story.”
Inside the box were dozens of microcassette tapes — many unlabeled, some marked with dates from the late 1990s. Curious, Barry began to listen. At first, it sounded like the ramblings of a teenage girl — high school drama, late-night thoughts, inside jokes.
But then things started to shift.
Unexplainable coincidences. Feats that shouldn’t be possible. And a story, buried in the noise, of something ancient awakening in suburban Ohio.
What Barry uncovered was the forgotten life of Lila Campbell, a high school junior in 1997 who began to experience strange, unexplainable phenomena. A girl on the brink of discovering not just magic — but herself. With the help of her best friend Darren, and others caught in the mystery, Lila’s journey unfolds in real time across these raw, restored recordings.
The Witch Tapes is a heartwarming, suspenseful coming-of-age tale set in the fading glow of the 90s. Through Barry’s careful restoration, her voice — once silenced — is finally ready to be heard.
